About the Role As a Senior Claims Specialist - Non-Auto Liability, you will be the front-line expert responsible for managing third-party moderate to high-level severity, non-auto casualty claims. This role requires a high level of expertise, strong analytical skills, and excellent communication abilities. You will work independently, handling complex claims with minimal supervision, and be responsible for ensuring compliance with insurance laws and regulations. Key Responsibilities Adjudicate all aspects of the claims handling process, including conducting phone interviews and investigations to determine liability and damages. Review loss notices and complex policy forms to determine proper coverage and establish and maintain proper reserves. Determine the appropriate method of inspection for loss and finalize liability determination for third-party losses. Negotiate settlements with clients or legal representatives, obtaining releases, court-approved settlements for minors, pre-suit mediations, or arbitrations. Draft professional correspondence regarding various aspects of the claim and communicate with insureds, claimants, agents, attorneys, and internal clients. Ensure compliance with Unfair Claims Settlement Practices Act, insurance laws, and regulations in all states assigned. Review and recognize complex legal issues that require presentation to management, in-house counsel, defense counsel, and internal committee. Assist in mentoring other claims representatives within the department and complete ongoing continuing education to maintain active adjuster license(s). Essential Qualifications To be considered for this role, you must have: An active state adjuster license or be willing to obtain one following the date of hire (American National will incur all fees associated with licensure). A minimum of four years of multi-lines claims adjusting work experience. Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications will set you apart as a candidate: Six or more years of claims handling experience. A four-year completed degree in a related field, such as Criminal Justice, Insurance and Risk Management, Business, or Communications. An understanding of statutes, case laws, and policy contracts. Effective and organized multi-tasking abilities, with high attention to detail and follow-up. Comfort managing difficult conversations with ease and confidence. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong negotiation skills. The ability to work independently and a passion for providing the highest level of customer service. What We Offer American National offers a competitive salary range of $55,000 to $88,000, depending on experience, skill, and education.
