JOB SUMMARY The Senior Cost Accountant is responsible for the ongoing monitoring and analysis of manufacturing cost activity and gross margin analysis for assigned entities and ensuring the quality and accuracy thereof. This role will review production and inventory costs on an ongoing basis and work with the VPC and PDC teams to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to inventory and manufacturing costing. This role will also assist in monitoring obsolescence reserves and slow-moving inventory. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS • Analyze manufacturing costs and prepare regular reports comparing actual costs to planned production costs • Measure, analyze and develop metrics to improve reporting on material, labor, overhead, scrap, inventory levels, etc. • Conduct variance analysis and investigate issues relating to purchase price variances, match exceptions, and aged GRIR balances • Review and monitor the cycle count program • Maintain direct labor and overhead assigned costs for manufacturing work centers/cells • Collaborate with manufacturing operations in performing audits and maintaining adequate internal controls • Monitor compliance and provide corrective actions as it relates to internal and external audit findings • Ensure assigned accounts are properly reconciled / explained • Assist with Internal and External audit requests, including preparation of working papers and other supporting documents, and provide corrective actions as it relates to audit findings • Research and resolve inventory and manufacturing accounting transaction questions and issues in an agreed upon timeframe • Create and maintain desktop procedures for assigned areas of responsibility • Make recommendations to enhance and/or streamline accounting processes and work flow efficiencies • Responsibly receive, transmit, and handle consumer and customer data per applicable policies and procedures • Other duties (e.g., financial close and ad hoc analysis and reporting) as required • Responsibly receive, transmit, and handle consumer and customer data per applicable policies and procedures. • Review and follow data privacy practices, policies, and guidelines. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in Accounting from four-year College or University with 5 -- 8 years of experience in the field or in a related area and a minimum of 3+ years cost accounting experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload in order to meet deadlines • Be able to demonstrate attention to details and good-record-keeping • Proficient in Excel • High level of interpersonal skills with demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy • Attention to detail and ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement • Strong knowledge of cost and manufacturing accounting methodologies, activities, and cost pools based on direct and indirect cost rates • Proficient at analyzing financial data and promptly creating accurate reports • Highly analytical and extremely detailed • Public accounting experience with manufacturing clients preferred • Experience with SAP S/4 HANA highly preferred To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. While the job is generally performed in an office environment, the associate is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, areas in which moving mechanical parts, fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals are present, and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the office environment is typically quiet, but the associate may be occasionally exposed to loud noise levels. TRAVEL REQUIRED Minimal travel is required for this position (up to 20% of the time and on a domestic basis).
