Veterinary Technician for Dog Rescue

Description The Medical Caregiver at Their Voice Rescue plays a crucial role in providing hands-on veterinary care to dogs in need. Located in Delaplane, VA, on a scenic 50-acre sanctuary, this position involves managing the health, physical, and emotional well-being of rescue dogs. The Medical Caregiver will work closely with veterinarians and the Rescue Manager to ensure that all care is delivered compassionately and effectively. Skills • Licensed Veterinary Technician certification required • Strong desire to work with rescue dogs • Excellent problem-solving abilities • Proficient in ShelterLuv and similar animal care software • Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation • Physical stamina and ability to handle dogs with unpredictable temperaments Responsibilities • Perform intake evaluations and manage medical records • Oversee the health and care of dogs, including administering medications and treatments • Schedule veterinary appointments and maintain communication with veterinary staff • Ensure cleanliness and organization of kennels and outdoor areas • Train new staff and assist in volunteer recruitment and community outreach • Engage with dogs through walking, training, and socializing • Maintain knowledge of each dog’s personality and health needs Qualifications • Ample experience as a vet tech in a veterinary clinic • Experience working with or volunteering in a rescue organization or shelter • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays Education Requirements • Licensed Veterinary Technician certification required Education Requirements Credential Category • Veterinary Technician Experience Requirements • Previous experience in hands-on dog care positions is required • Familiarity with animal care software like ShelterLuv Why work in Delaplane, VA Delaplane offers a serene and picturesque environment, perfect for those who appreciate nature and wildlife.
